Get every client's tax documents in.Without paying for a whole practice suite.
A checklist link for each client, automatic reminders for what's missing, and one labeled zip back. $199 a year for solo and small-firm preparers.
You send the organizer. You send the reminder. You send the reminder about the reminder.
Then the client writes back that they can't get in.
Their own reviews of the portals accountants use say it plainly. One client wrote: Difficult even to login.
Another: I am an engineer and cannot upload a document.
Another: Can't upload PDFs from iPhone.
So they email you a photo instead. Or nothing at all.
And the fix on offer is usually a full practice-management suite: CRM, invoicing, e-signatures, workflows, per-user pricing.
A lot of software for one job — getting the documents in.
Every client who can't upload becomes a phone call, a resend, or an email thread you have to dig through later.
Some clients are already fed up with the tool, not just the task. One wrote that they were asking my accountant to switch to something functional and modern or leaving them.
Another: If my accountant didn't make me use this app I would delete it in a heartbeat!
That's the risk of a clunky upload step: it lands on your relationship with the client, in the weeks you have the least time to fix it.
CPA Doc Room does one thing: it gets documents from your clients to you, labeled and in one zip.
It isn't a practice suite. There's no CRM, no invoicing, no e-signatures. You keep your tax software and your own way of working. CPA Doc Room just handles the collecting.
A checklist built for the return.
Pick the return type — W-2 employee, contractor, Schedule C, rental, or K-1 recipient — and the client sees exactly which items to upload.
Nothing for clients to set up.
They get an emailed link. No account, no password, no app. They upload item by item from their phone.
Reminders that only chase what's missing.
Automatic emails 7, 3 and 1 days before your docs-due date, for missing items only.
One labeled zip per client.
Files are named for the checklist item, with a list of what's still missing.
No-login links aren't unique to us; other tools offer them too. What's different is the scope and the price: just document collection, for $199 a year.
How it works
- 1
Pick the return type.
Choose the checklist for this client:
- W-2 employee
- contractor
- Schedule C
- rental
- K-1 recipient
- 2
The client gets a link.
We email them a link. They tap it and upload each item from their phone. No account, no password. If something's still missing, reminders go out 7, 3 and 1 days before the due date.
- 3
You download one labeled zip.
Every file is named for its checklist item, with a list of what's missing. Need something redone? Mark the item “ask again”.

Will my clients actually use it?
There's nothing for them to set up: no account, no password, no app. They open a link from their email and upload each item from their phone. Reminders go out automatically for anything missing. No tool can make every client send documents on time, which is why the first 10 packets are free — try it with your own clients and see.
Is it secure?
Your clients' files are stored encrypted, and only you can download them. Clients can see which items they've sent, but they can't open or download files from their link. Each link stops working 30 days after your docs-due date. If a client needs more time, Resend link sends them a fresh one.
My tax software already has a portal.
Keep it. CPA Doc Room doesn't replace your tax software. If your clients already use your portal without trouble, you may not need us. If they're emailing you photos instead, send them a CPA Doc Room link and download the zip.
Doesn't TaxDome already do no-login requests?
Yes, and so do some other tools. If you're on a full suite and happy with it, stay there. CPA Doc Room is for preparers who don't want a full suite: just document collection, at $199 a year.
Why not a free Dropbox or Box file request?
A generic upload folder takes whatever the client drops in. CPA Doc Room asks for specific items based on the return type, reminds the client only about what's missing, names each file for its checklist item, and gives you one zip with a list of what's still outstanding.
What's a packet?
One document request, sent to one client, for one tax year. The season pass covers up to 200 packets per season (fair use).
Do you do e-signatures, invoicing or text reminders?
No. CPA Doc Room doesn't do e-signatures, invoicing, CRM, tax advice, AI or SMS. Reminders are email only. It does one job.
What happens after the 10 free packets?
If it works for you, get the $199 season pass. It's billed yearly through Stripe and renews each year. No card is needed to start the trial.
One job, done properly: get the documents in.
Pick a return type, send the link, download one labeled zip. Try it on 10 clients, free, no card.
